Hello, fellow travelers. It’s been a while. Sorry for the delay in communications, but things have been tough around here. That’s really all I can say about that. I’m still working on the new book, and will hopefully have more news on it soon, but for now, I have something else you might find of interest.
My friend, linguist CD Covington, is developing a book on Linguistic Worldbuilding for Science Fiction and Fantasy authors. Check out her blog post on the upcoming Kickstarter here! If you're interested in a preview of her work, check out her ongoing column on the subject at Tor.com!
In August we have Ahsoka to look forward to. The trailers for the show look pretty exciting, and I’ve liked most of the shows produced by Disney+ for Star Wars, so I have high hopes. We’ll see how this goes.
I’m very excited about the upcoming game Starfield from Bethesda. I mean, an open world RPG like Skyrim and Fallout, but set in space? Could there be anything more designed for me? Readers may be happy to know that I’m not allowed to play it until I reach a threshold of writing on the new book, and I haven’t yet reached it. I have until early September, but if I don’t make it, the game will sit unplayed until I do. Let’s hope this carrot works on my brain!
Beyond that, I’m looking forward to The Marvels in November. Say what you will about the MCU’s faults (and it certainly has some), but Captain Marvel is one of my favorite Marvel heroes for years—since long before she was called Captain Marvel—and this new movie looks great. I loved the first one, and I expect to be very happy with this one, too.
Well, I should probably get back to the writing, so as the Kelvaki say, May your journey be swift and safe.
